Emi was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in a German-speaking household. From a young age, Emi was interested in art and design; at 15, she attended weekend courses at the Fashion Institute of Technology relating to fashion sketching, graphic design, and photography.
Emi’s interest in photography grew over the years; her photographs have been published in the New York Times and others have been on display in exhibitions in the Brooklyn Museum and photography exhibits in Berlin, Germany.
In 2014, Emi graduated cum laude from the Savannah College of Art & Design with a B.F.A. in Graphic Design. During her summers between college courses, she interned at design firms in New York, San Francisco and London. Right after graduating, Emi moved to Dallas to work as a user experience design consultant for at AT&T.
After working at her previous company for over a year, she decided she wanted to work for a tech startup and was introduced to Dialexa. Emi currently lives in Dallas with her dog Pixel and her husband Roque, who is also a designer.
