Rowdy Howell is a Solutions Engineer at Dialexa who strives to build innovative and interactive technology with an emphasis on the “wow” factor. The majority of his experience is in Android development and algorithm engineering, but he has also helped implement many web applications from bottom to top.
Rowdy was previously an intern at Samsung Research America, where he helped contribute to the wave of fully-immersive virtual reality applications on the Gear VR Headset. Most of his development was focused on building, porting, and testing Android applications, but he also built custom plugins and applications using the Oculus Rift SDK for the Gear VR. His tasks also included conducting research on spatial and 3D audio that is used to help immerse users in an VR environment.
Rowdy has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Southern Methodist University (SMU). He was also an Adjunct Lecturer at SMU for a programming concepts class and one of the first Captains of the University’s ultimate frisbee team. In his free time, you can find Rowdy playing club ultimate frisbee, focusing on a video game, or catching a movie with his friends and family.
